The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rewarded the Indian team with an impressive prize of Rs 58 crore for their win in the Champions Trophy 2025. On March 9, Rohit Sharma and his squad clinched the title by defeating Mitchell Santner’s New Zealand in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This marks India’s third championship victory, following their wins in 2002 and 2013.

BCCI President Roger Binny praised Team India’s achievement, saying, “Securing back-to-back ICC titles is truly special, and this reward is a tribute to the team’s dedication and excellence on the global stage. It also recognizes the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. This was our second ICC trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup victory, reflecting the strong cricketing foundation in our country.”

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla praised the team’s performance, stating, “This cash reward is a recognition of the team’s exceptional efforts throughout the tournament. The players showcased incredible composure under pressure, serving as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers across the country. Once again, the team has demonstrated that Indian cricket thrives on a solid foundation of skill, mental resilience, and a winning mindset.”

India kicked off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a commanding six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, courtesy of Shubman Gill’s eighth ODI century. They followed it up with another six-wicket win against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai, where Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI hundred powered India to a comfortable chase of 242. With New Zealand defeating Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, India secured a spot in the semi-finals.

In their final group-stage match against New Zealand, Varun Chakravarthy’s five-wicket haul and Shreyas Iyer’s crucial 79 led the Men in Blue to another win, ensuring they topped the table.
India then faced Australia in the semi-final, where Virat Kohli’s gritty 84 helped them clinch a four-wicket victory, marking their third consecutive Champions Trophy final appearance after 2013 and 2017.

In the title clash, India had to battle hard, but skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with a vital 76, steering the team to a four-wicket win over New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer emerged as India’s top batter in the tournament, scoring 243 runs from five matches at an average of 79.41. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy finished as India’s leading wicket-takers, taking nine wickets each.
