Mumbai Indians’ star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has joined the team again after completing his injury rehab. This is big news for the team ahead of their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Bumrah has been out since January this year due to a back injury he got during the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Because Bumrah missed the first few games of the season, MI had a poor start, winning only one of their first four matches. His return is expected to strengthen the team and improve their performance in the next matches.
Bumrah has been a key part of MI’s bowling since he made his IPL debut in 2013. Known as one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Bumrah has played 133 matches for MI and taken 165 wickets.
May miss RCB, but likely against SRH
It is still unclear whether Bumrah will be fit to play against RCB on April 7. However, there is a good chance he might return in MI’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 17. SRH all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is already looking forward to the challenge.
“I would be grateful for the challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world right now, and facing him would be an exciting contest. If I manage to score some runs against him, I would be pleased. Competing against top bowlers like Bumrah is what makes the game exciting,” Reddy said on JioHotstar’s show Gen Bold.
He also praised senior Indian cricketers. “This generation of Indian cricket has been shaped by legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others. They have taken Indian cricket to new heights, and we aspire to carry forward their legacy. Players like Jasprit, Rohit and Virat are truly golden assets to Indian cricket,” he added.
